I Am SuperMamma! Oh Wait...
The last 3.5 months of the year are busy ones in the Eclectic Mamma household. Monkey's birthday late September, mine late October, Husband's early December, all the usual holidays, and then this year Husband's sister is getting married in early December, hooray! (That was a straight hooray, for the impending marriage, not a sarcastic hooray for everything that needs to be done!)
This week is particularly hectic... Hence the whole me-almost-being-SuperMamma thing. I got so much done tonight! I feel totally super awesome! And then I think about all the other things I didn't get done... haha.
My Got-Done list for today:
Call the auto people and tell them that we're not going to buy the beater car until we can pay for it outright, after Husband's big happy first paycheck at his new job.
Switch from using my myTouch Slide back to my G1. Ugh... Long complicated story, but it's something that I've been putting off for a few months, because my G1 screen is about 1/5 unusable. Also, going back to that slow processor was paaaaaaiiiiinful. But, the Slide has some cracks in the casing that appeared after just a few weeks, and HTC is going to fix it for me once I get off my bum and send the stinkin phone in.
Oh yeah, work for 9.5 hours, because now Husband works farther away than I do, and so now he gets the car until we get the second one.
Got home around 6 and...
Change, feed, and play with Nathan in the tiny window that we get, all while going through insurance options with Husband so we can decide what we want to do.
Put Nathan down while Husband is wrestling with the insurance company's online interface. Now the real fun begins!
Go to JoAnn Fabrics for fabric and a 6 inch cake pan, to Sarah's house so she can pin my Halloween dress because she's going to hem it later (Oh, have I mentioned I have the awesomest friend in the world? What, you think you do? Sorry, you would be wrong...), back to JoAnn's because I forgot pins and thread, and back home.
Find a cake recipe, realize we don't have any eggs and I was going to borrow some from Sarah, and look up a recipe for chocolate cake that doesn't need eggs. (OH CRAP I THINK I FORGOT THE VEGETABLE OIL IN THE CAKE!! Too late now... At least the crumbs I had were pretty yummy.) Bake said cake, waiting for layer to cool in between because I only have one 8 inch square pan.
While waiting for cake, go out into the pitch-black side yard (at 10 pm), set up sheet and newspaper, and spray paint nerf gun as part of costume. Go out while other cake is cooling and spray the other side. Oh, I'm spraying them black, In the pitch dark. On a navy blue sheet. Yeeaaaahhhh...
Inbetween all this, sew a 2.5-foot seam (by hand, because I don't have a machine) connecting two pieces of black jersey knit. (I'm so glad I don't have to hem the whole stinking thing! Hooray for fabrics that won't fray too much!)
Yeah... I'm freaking Holly Homemaker! Except... wait.... The kitchen is only mostly clean, the front room looks like poo, and I think I still have a medical bill somewhere in this pile that's about to go to collections... Also, check out the time... The alarm is set for about 7.5 hours from now, and I still have cleaning up after projects to do. Hey, you win some, you lose some, right? (And by "lose some," I mean sleep.)
UPDATE: Apparently I didn't completely forget the oil, I just only put in 1/5 the amount I was supposed to. The evidence suggests that this makes for a very dense, rich cake... "Oops"?
