My Hero!

[Alert: This is a sappy post!]

Husband is my hero! In the last few weeks, he has had the energy to buckle down and get things done that we have been putting off... Just this past weekend, he bought and installed hinges and doorknobs for the doors upstairs... We have a doorknob on our bathroom door, instead of a hole! Wow!

Last weekend we learned that we could, in fact, paint in the next room while Monkey was asleep... I wish we had known that months ago—we might be fully moved in by now if we knew that (Monkey sleeps in the room that will be the office, and his room has had everything from water damage to termites... ugh)! But, last weekend we primed Monkey's room, and then the last few days we painted the walls and the trim in that room. We will still have to paint the door (Oh goodness, getting that door is a saga...) and install the trim around the door, and paint the windowsill area... But I think tonight we will clean up the painting paraphernalia and plastic, and maybe start moving some of Monkey's furniture into his actual room. I don't think we'll have time to take apart, move, and put back together his crib before he is ready for bed... But it will be the last thing on the list for tomorrow!

Another hero thing Husband has done recently is fix a leak in our roof! When we moved in, there was some bubbling and water damage in the bathroom, but we assumed that was from the bathroom not having a fan... until it rained really hard a few weeks ago, and we had water running down our sloped ceiling and walls! I wouldn't even know where to start, but Husband did book- and internet-research, bought some kind of white goopy stuff, and crawled around on the roof to find the problem and fix it. It rained all weekend, and the bathroom is still gloriously dry.

And the final hero thing? My birthday present from Husband is professional cleaners coming in next Wednesday to do a deep-clean of our upstairs. He did everything from finding the company and making the appointment to arranging to take that morning off to do some last-minute tidying and meeting the cleaners.

Do I have a hero or what?
