The Holidays? Are Upon Us? Ack!

Ok, here's the deal. For as long as I can remember (I bet my mom can pinpoint it for you!) if I didn't want to deal with something, I would ignore it. Difficult and/or complicated school assignments got ignored until the last minute, and so I didn't do as well on them. One year when I was in college, I didn't buy my ticket home for Christmas until late November, and had to pay a ton to fly at a weird time. When I was planning my wedding, I had a hard time deciding what to do for a photographer, and we ended up hiring one four days before. The whole reason here isn't because I'm a procrastinator (though that is completely part of it! Haha...) it's because I am a perfectionist... If I think I can't do something just right, my mind ignores it and forgets about it until it goes away. What's that you say? Life doesn't go away? Yeaaah...

Which brings me to the holidays. Ack! The last month has been so busy and stressful for me, that I (consciously, this time) decided to ignore Thanksgiving and Christmas and SIL's wedding until after the stressful October. And then I was sick for a week and a half. And then I decided to give myself another week off from worrying. And then I genuinely "forgot"/ignored Thanksgiving planning, Christmas shopping, family-in-town planning, wedding gift shopping, buying something to wear to the wedding, and Christmas planning... until the last several days. The stress has been building in me until I can't be in the same room as sawing, high-pitched engine noises, or Cartman's voice. (When my base stress level is high, I have sound-sensory Issues...) I went to the grocery store yesterday and bought 95% of what I need for Thanksgiving dinner (there will ALWAYS be something to get Thursday morning) and I've decided that I will go to KMart on Friday for my first-ever Black Friday shopping experience. And then whatever I don't get on Black Friday, I will order on Amazon and have shipped...

I'm a little nervous about Black Friday:

Black Friday crowd

Like I said, I've never been out shopping on Black Friday, so I have no idea what to expect... In 2007 I worked at a big-box store (not WallyWorld), but I worked the closing shift, and it didn't seem too much worse than a bad Saturday. Back to school season seemed worse than Black Friday evening. But, I'm planning on going to KMart, which isn't ever too busy... I've got a list of about a dozen things to get... Two things in the electronics section (so I'm headed straight to the back of the store, because I know that'll be the craziest) and the rest in clothing and gifty-type sections. I think I'll be able to get about half of my shopping done, if I get everything I'm planning. It opens at 5, so my plan is to get there around 4:15 or 4:30. I wish I could put up a web cam in the parking lot the night before, so I can know if I need to go earlier! I will also be heading over there for a couple of their Thanksgiving sales, and to scope out where everything is... The plan is to be back home before Husband has to leave for work, because he doesn't have Friday off.

Any thoughts or tips? I'd love to hear them!
