This is part of what I've been doing instead of writing… I'm not done, but I've got a few major areas taken care of.
Cheapo wreath I got when we were first married. It used to have just the bow on it, but this year I dressed it up with some tiny red ornaments that were on sale at Kmart… I love it now!
My kitchen windowsill is really the only thing that almost always looks nicely put-together… Before Christmas-decorating-time, I just had a bunch of red things up there—different size- and shape-candles, vase, and pitcher. I got my favorite favorite thing on sale on Black Friday (the red iPod dock) and immediately worked it in. Then, I changed out the red and white flowers in the vase for some grassy stuff and silver stars, and stuck some ornaments in the pitcher. Husband thinks the ornaments in the pitcher and the grassy stuff are odd, but that's ok.
And our tree. Last year, we threw away all the glass ornaments in anticipation of Monkey being more mobile, and I got a bunch of shatterproof ornaments on after-Christmas clearance. Probably more than I needed… But I like options.
We had to replace our tree skirt with aluminum foil for a while, to at least TRY to keep the cats out of the tree. It worked, in that Roy was more interested in playing with the foil than the ornaments. Thankfully, right before I reached my breaking-point-of-frustration, Roy magically stopped climbing in the tree and knocking off all the ornaments every 5 minutes…
Toddler point-of-view. I decided that Monkey was allowed to touch ornaments with one finger at a time, and only if he's being held. If he grabs with more than one finger, he gets taken away from the tree for a while. He's grasped the concept of one-finger-touching pretty quickly…
Christmas present from Monkey's aunts last year. I love that they put an "s" on there.
I love love love close-up shots of ornaments. This image is currently my desktop background on one of my monitors at work… The picture of the wreath is on my other monitor.
I hope you like what you saw. I love Christmas decorations!
