Wilton Class 1 Final Cakes
Also called the Wilton Decorating Basics class
I debated posting these (which I dug up from the end of September—yeesh!), because I didn't actually make them… But when I was looking for ideas for my cake, I had such a hard time finding something that wasn't right out of the book! If somehow someone from my cake class ends up here, and I've posted your cake, please let me know so I can either attribute it to you or take it down, your choice.
Totally was on a neon-color kick with this cake. The bright green was really fun (I think I used Kelly Green Wilton coloring), and I enjoyed getting the pink on the roses just right. All the flowers were made ahead of time out of buttercream, so they were dry and the little ones were a bit crumbly, but I made it work.
Sarah's cake was really pretty! I love the color of the roses against the white, and the MMF (marshmallow fondant) braid and bow!
I like the kinda side-scroller look for the flowers and the clouds—we suggested to her that she put the "1-up" mushroom in the sky!
This one is by one of the lone guys in the class. I love the neon-on-black. He used an iTunes gift card to make the sides so smooth! (Pssst… Do those little pink flowers and big pink roses look familiar? I gave him some of my leftovers, haha)
She wasn't done with her cake yet, but I love the color combination on the roses! The trios of dots are really cute, too.
The rose in the very middle is so beautiful! I also like how the roses kinda fade from pink to yellow as she made more. I wouldn't have thought to do that, but it turned out really neat! You can't see it very well from this angle, but there's also piped lettering on the sides, saying things like "Dance" "Love" and "Laugh."
More lovely roses, but what really stood out to me was the "Happy Birthday" piping… I wish you could see it better!
Man… All these cakes make me want to bake again… Anybody local have a birthday coming up? [I say with a cheesy grin]
