Mommy Needs a Time Out!
For my mail-in-baby-shower before Monkey was born, my younger brother sent me this tshirt:
(If you'll excuse the poor lighting webcam picture… And lack of curtains… This is where I wail, "I'll never be a REAL mommy blogger!")
I thought it was kinda funny, and nice that I got something for myself (in addition to the pampering set I got from my aunt… I love yummy-scented stuff!). But, since it fit a little tight, and it's really hard to breastfeed in tshirts, it got rolled up and put in my drawer. I've worn it a couple times since, but today it absolutely perfect for it.
I took a mental health day today (mostly prophylactic, but I've been spiraling a tad and wanted to make that stop) (P.S. I love using the word "prophylactic" in proper-but-not-expected contexts). I'm taking care of a lot of house- and me-things that have been put by the wayside… I even restarted working out today! (More on that later…) I'm worked-out and showered, laundry is started, and soon I'll take a break from writing to put some socks on (my house is cold! Maybe I should let it know someone is home today…) and empty/fill the dishwasher. I've actually got a huge list of things I want to accomplish today, but somehow it's relaxing. Weird, right? (Crap… I think I've become a real mom!)
Anyways, yeah, it's actually been kindof a good day. I haven't been dance-in-the-kitchen happy in a while. I haven't gotten this much done in a day in a while. Mommy totally needed—and got—her time out, and it did a world of good.
P.S. Speaking of shirts, both Husband and I got ourselves one of these. Hooray!
