OK, Daylight Savings Time, You Win...
I'm a fan of the Fall Back half of DST. Sleeping later, and the occasional 25-hour birthday? Awesome! But as a trade-off we have to accept Spring Forward, which up until this year was a bane. An hour less sleep, and waking up in the dark again? Why would anybody want that?
Well, Sunday wasn't too bad sleep-wise, because I took a Xanax at around noon and dozed most of the afternoon. But Monday… Monday I picked Monkey up from Sarah's and the sun was still pretty high in the sky, so I decided to stop by the park by our house on the way home. It was a lot of fun! Monkey went straight for the nearest slide, to try to climb up it (of course).
And we took our turn on the swings.
I kept trying to get Monkey to look at me, but there was a little girl—about a couple years older than him—and he couldn't take his eyes off her!
I felt a little like a helicopter-mom because I was always within a couple arms length of him, but he's only 18 months and there were a bunch of bigger kids… I also felt a bit out of place in my skirt and heels, but that's the price I paid for spontaneity!
Today we met Husband at the park, and one of the things we did a lot was he would hand Monkey up to me so I could put him at the top of the slide-tower (Monkey can get there most of the way on his own, but there is a more difficult ladder-thing at the end that he can't quite do). Monkey obviously remembered the park from the day before, because as soon as I parked the car by side of the street, he said "Weee! Weeee!" He was so excited!
So, there you have it. This year, Daylight Savings Time is kindof awesome, because I get to take my little boy to the park after work. In the words of a toddler, "Weeeee!"
