I finally got an actual project-reason to play with my Silhouette! (Up until now, Husband has been doing most of the playing, trying to make stuff like this) Sarah threw a surprise birthday party for her husband yesterday, so Friday she came over to make a banner. Of course, everyone forgot to bring their cameras to the party, so I don't have any pictures of it put together… And now that I think about it, we could have made little '34's and balloons to spruce it up a bit… But we were tired.
Getting a page ready to get cut up…
Piles of letters, waiting for a home.
Placing the letters… We only had some several-year-old school glue to work with, so Sarah had fun on that one!
Piles of wasted paper! We really should have squished things together more… But again with the tired!
By the time she was assembling the sign and I was packing up the machine, Husband came home from his trip! Which was another reason why we didn't decorate the sign better, plus it was getting late, so Sarah had to get her third-trimester self into bed.
I'm throwing Sarah's baby shower in early May (5 weeks… I need to get myself in gear!) and this project both intimidated and inspired me! Intimidated, because I would have never thought to make a banner… I never made a banner for Monkey's first birthday, or the curry party! Plus, she keeps talking about the amazing parties a mutual friend throws, and I'm just not a big party person. And, she and her husband have been wanting this baby for ages, so it feels like it's a big deal to throw her shower! Inspiring, though, because the banner was cake and pie to put together, and I can think of a couple ways to improve it with more time to work. Hopefully I can do the same with the rest of the shower planning process…
