Well, So Much For That Idea
I've been trying to get motivated to work on a specific project for about two weeks. First, I was a little crafted-out from the 4th of July decorations, then Sarah's baby was born, and recently I finally got off my heiney, faced my fear of working with a new medium, and got to work.
I found these magnets on Infarrantly Creative and then I saw her candy corn earrings and decided I just had to do a Dimensional Magic project! I had some ceramic magnets lying around, so I decided to spray paint them white, draw cherries on them, and voila! Perfect fridge magnets!

Uhm…
That bled pretty good, and since I did the dimensional magic on my cheap, non-flat, folding plastic table, there wasn't a terribly large amount of dimension. I figured out that a lot of the DM (I'm too lazy to type out Dimensional Magic over and over, so just go with it) projects I've seen have used a thin layer of Mod Podge between the paper and the DM, so I went to the craft store and picked up some of that joy.

Well…
I'm not sure what happened here, except that maybe I just can't use a Sharpie for the pattern? That, or maybe I didn't let the Mod Podge dry long enough, I'm not sure. Also, I doubt you can see it in the picture, but there's a lovely cat hair embedded in the DM. D'oh!
My next step will be printing out a cherry design, using the Mod Podge, and seeing if that works. If not… I may try marble magnets. They look better, I think, but also look like they could be a pain… Plus I will have to buy more materials, glue, etc. I could also try the spraypaint/printed cherries/Mod Podge/DM on a wooden circle, glued to one of my cheapy magnets. I don't particularly like the non-uniform sides. Hey, now I've got an idea for Christmas presents…
