Summer Yarn Wreath!

I love this wreath. It makes me so happy when I see it hanging on my front door! (Well… Mostly. My flowers are kinda funky, and I'm thinking about adding a third grouping to the top-left)

It was pretty simple, and involved many fewer hot glue burns than my 4th of July wreath!

First, I bought a straw wreath form from Hobby Lobby. (Why have I not been in love with this place before?? It's so huge, it took me two days to see everything! And pretty cheap… The wreath form was $4.) I left it wrapped in plastic, because it seemed like it would be less complicated that way, and started wrapping it with some cheapy yellow yarn I already had.

You can see here that there are gaps (plus, this is the back of the wreath). I thought about doing a whole 'nother layer of yarn wrapping, but the first layer took me an hour and fifteen minutes, and made my arm sore…

So I decided to just fill in the gaps. I took the yarn, and made it look as straight as possible from the front, and then used dots of hot glue on the back to keep the yarn in place.

Ahhh, much better!

I didn't take any pictures of making the flowers, but it was a lot of unglueing (of both me and the fabric) and frustration and wailing and gnashing of teeth and you don't really need to see that. I do really like how the pink ruffley one turned out, though, don't you?

I didn't have any buttons, like the tutorial called for, so I just took a strip of the fabric, tied it in a knot, and glued it in the middle (with the tails tucked into the flower). I think it worked great!
