How To: Bulk Up a Dollar Store Wreath Form
When I was perusing Pinterest last week, I found a great idea for a wreath for the 4th of July! It looked pretty simple, too, especially because I was given a whole bunch of red felt.
I hopped from store to store (not literally…) looking for the right wreath form, felt colors, etc. I had a choice between a $6 foam wreath (after coupon), and a wicker wreath from the Dollar Tree… Duh! Unfortunately, the wreath from the Dollar Tree was too thin—it wouldn't have made a very full wreath.
So… I did what any enterprising crafter would do, and pulled out my glue gun!
Cut strips of felt. I didn't measure, I just winged it. (Sorry.)
Take a piece of newspaper and crumple it to the volume you want. You could hot glue the paper to the wreath if you want, but I didn't.
Wrap the felt around the paper and wreath, and hot glue the end.
Rinse and repeat until you've got a nice, thick wreath form!

(Yeah… You can see the ribbon that I hot glued on to be a hanger, and then decided didn't match. Whoops!)

In case you're curious/want to make your own, I used 4 sheets of blue, 5 sheets of white, and… A lot of red. (Sorry I don't have more detail, but it used to be a giant poncho-looking thing.) The stars are just foam stars that came in a pack of red, white, and blue at the craft store. I did approximately 2.5 inch squares—fudging where necessary because the felt came in 9x12 sheets. I think I ended up gluing each piece about 1/4 inch apart, but if you're not using a bright red form you can probably get away with farther apart.
Just imagine all the color combinations you could do! What will you do with yours?

Jessie, I'm guessing that you're talking the pointed out bits on the final wreath? What I did with that is I made 2x2" squares of felt, and then glued them down in the center with the points sticking out. Does that make sense? If not, I'll try and look through my pictures and see if I can find something more illuminating for you :-)
