It Would Be Awesome To Go To A Conference
This is awkward.
I always come across giveaways for sweet stuff (like a Silhouette Cameo, or Blentec blender) and I usually enter if it's just a comment, but I refuse to do the other entries, like tweeting or blogging about said giveaway… Until today.
Here's the thing. There's this really awesome bloggers' conference that I would love to go to. I follow Tauni on Twitter, so I heard about it as soon as it was announced, and shortly thereafter started following Snap!'s blog. But at the time it was announced, I was trying to get pregnant, so I wasn't going to bother saving up money unless that didn't happen. And then, in June, I did get pregnant. This was my second pregnancy of the year and I held my breath for weeks. I was due in March, so Snap! was totally out of the question, though I kept up with the news—just to know what I was missing, I suppose! Then, at my 12 week appointment, the other shoe dropped. I had to have a D&C, because my body didn't realize what was going on. I was devastated. I pretty much checked out for a few months, and almost even quit my job, because I couldn't handle being "normal."
2011 was a hard year. We're blessed to still have our jobs and our home in this economy, but there were several other difficult events that I'm not going to get into because it doesn't particularly matter (among other things, let's just say that I had several oral surgeries and a root canal, and Husband has had even more dental work done. We don't even have to check in at the dentist office anymore, because they know us by sight.) I want 2012 to be better. I need 2012 to be better. Blogging is an outlet for me, because I love teaching and I love showing people how to do things. My aim is to have the kind of blog that a reader can come away thinking "Well, that was a lot easier than I thought it would be! I can totally do that!" Whenever I see that something from my site has been pinned or repinned on Pinterest, I get giddy. I would love to learn how to use social media to get my content out, because the more eyeballs hit my site, the more likely it is that someone thinks "I can do that." I would love to meet some of the bloggers I've been following for years, as well as make new friends and find new blogs to follow. And honestly? I would love a break. Something to look forward to, instead of looking back at the past.
This is me. I'm a wife. I'm a mom. I'm a friend. I try to be a homemaker, blogger, DIYer, crafter, graphic designer, and more. I'd love to go to Snap! Blogging and Social Media Conference in April, so between January 21st and January 28th, please take the time to vote for me (number 17) over at Snap.
