A Springly Redo
I finally got around to redoing that argyle wreath—and since I waited so long, I had to skip St Patrick's Day and go straight to Spring! I'll be honest, even though we've had weather in the 60s all week, it doesn't feel like Spring… I just know it'll dumpa few feet of snow on us as soon as I transition to short sleeves and sandals, and I don't do seasonal transitions easily! However, I bit the bullet and am decorating for Spring…
First of all, I redid my argyle wreath to spring colors! It was slightly complicated, because I wasn't thinking when I designed it… There are 14 diamonds, so I can't do any equal patterns with more than two colors! (Well, I guess I could do seven…) So, I tried to go a little random. I like it!
I had some scraps of felt leftover from the diamonds (and from my kitchen wreaths), and they kinda looked like pennants, so I hot glued them to a white ribbon and command-tacked them to the inside of the front door. Love it!
I found this method of wreath hanging on Pinterest last year, so when I saw some small straw wreath forms at Hobby Lobby for $3, I snapped them up! My mother-in-law is in town this week, and she helped me glue the felt onto the wreaths while I was working on paper flowers. Also, see those neat eggs? I found some packets of 24 plastic eggs at the Dollar Tree… I normally pass those by, but then I saw that these were pre-drilled with holes! Of course, that meant I had to get a few bags of them (so I could get the colors I wanted) and string them on some orange embroidery floss.
I like gerbera daisies, so I searched out a tutorial for paper daisies online. I like how these turned out, though I wish I was able to find brighter paper colors. Still, though, aren't they adorable? I'll have a tutorial up for you next week, probably.
I don't really spend a lot of time outside, and like I mentioned earlier I'm still waiting for winter to hit… but now my inside looks like Spring!
